Winter Excursion 2, Day 75

We left camp this morning to explore the area a little. We headed to Hunting State Park south of us. Drove through Beaufort, SC, it reminds me of a mini Charleston.
Hunting State Park was probably very beautiful, but three hurricanes in two years has really taken it's toll. The campground is still closed and has probably lost 80% of it's trees.
The lighthouse is in good shape.
A view of the beach, notice all the down trees.
Another beach view.
The lighthouse from the beach.
On Brian & Nicole's advice we stopped at the "Shrimp Shack" for lunch.
Here's the greeter.
And the outside of the place. We had shrimp burger sliders, fries, and lemonade.
Back at camp we were having quite a rain storm. A couple had moved in to the site next to us and are staying in their car. We invited them in and visited with them for an hour or so until the storm abated.
For dinner we had a Seafood Casserole from Flowers Seafood joint up the road. It was very good. We are trying to eat as much seafood as possible.
Here's the label from the casserole.
Off to bed after a little TV. Kids and Kiddos are coming for the weekend tomorrow.

Winter Excursion 2, Day 74

Got all packed up this morning and hit the road at 1100. It was a long, grueling drive to Edisto....all of 59 miles!😨
We are literally camped 30 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. It used to be campers could see the ocean from our campsite, but since the hurricanes there is a 10 foot man-made dune between our site and the beach. We can walk about 50 yards to a path to the beach. Here's a few pics of our site:
Ocean is at my back in this pic.
Camped in sand, very little vegetation here.
Here's a pic of the man-made dune.
And another one looking south.
Camper was level, but it's in sand and as soon as we put the slides out level is off by .75 inch.
Walked Kaylee on the beach. You can see her (the dot). Foggy and going to rain tonight.
The surf is kicking butt, we can hear it from the camper.
Sous-Vide swordfish for dinner. We found the local seafood market and they have it all. Should be a fun 12 days here. We are looking forward to the Kiddos this weekend. Only draw back is all the sand. It will be hard to keep it out of the camper.

Winter Excursion 2, Day 73

Today was "get ready to move day".
We did all of our errands in the morning; Camping World, PX, Commissary, Gas, Ice, etc.
Spent the afternoon getting the camper ready to move, we are off to Edisto, SC in the morning. It is only a 1-1/2 hour drive. Our campsite is right on the beach and we are anxious to see it.
Packed up the wood we had left and the truck is full!
The Kids and Kiddos will be with us for the weekend, so we will save our goodbyes for later.
Leftovers for dinner, a little TV, then off to bed. It was a nice lazy, slow day and the temps were near 70.

Winter Excursion 2, Day 72

Left for the Kid's house about 0930. Cath is finishing the laundry and watching the Kiddos as they do not have school again today! I left on my annual Myrtle Beach trip to get Mom's banking information. Stopped and saw Tom (fishing partner) on the way back to the Kid's.
Here's the snowman after two days of thaw. Temp today was close to 70. It will be gone tomorrow.
Here's Kennedy with her latest costume.
We had a good Mexican dinner with the new batch of re-fried beans the girls made. Headed back to the camper, had a nice evening by the fire, then headed to bed.

Winter Excursion 2, Day 71

Kiddos slept in until 0730. We had a quick breakfast, cleaned up the camper, gathered all their loot (toys), and headed to their house.
The weather actually warmed up. Temps were in the high 50s.
The snowman did not fair very well.
Cath made a nice birthday dinner for Nicole. I washed the truck. The Kiddos watched shows, but eventually came outside to play.
Mom & Dad got home around 1600. We had dinner. Then Cath & I headed to camp.
We enjoyed a fire, the temps were still in the high 40s.
Most of the snow is melted. It left as fast as it came. Off to bed. We will sleep good tonight!

Winter Excursion 2, Day 70

Kiddos awoke this morning and started a TS (thumb sucking) and BS (blanket sucking) fest! Grandma made some blueberry pancakes for breakfast. We cleaned up the Camper and headed to the Kids house. Did some more laundry and played with the Kiddos.
Here's a pic of the fest!
Here's Wes with his "fight" look. You've got to zoom in on this and check out his eyes, the flash caught it just right.
And the fest continued.
Back at the house it was rough up Granddad again. Two on my shoulders at once!
Wes being silly. He always wants a serious pic and then a silly pic.
Back at the camper it was pizza and a movie night.
Everyone was was asleep in bed by 2100. We've had a great couple of days with the Kiddos. Tonight is the last night with below freezing temps and I'm really looking forward to that!

Winter Excursion 2, Day 69

Headed to the Kid's around 1000. The roads are OK, but the secondary ones are the pits. We need a good thaw, but it looks like not until Monday.
Kids left for their Savannah get-away around 1230. Cath did some of the laundry and I played with the Kiddos.
Kaylee was happy in the sun and especially with the belly rub.
We headed to the camper around 1530 after making sure the poocherios were good to go. Back at camp we got Panda Express take-out for dinner and we all enjoyed it.
Here's a pic from dinner.
And here's the silly pic from dinner (Wesley insisted).
Blueberry pancakes for breakfast and then off to the Kid's house to check on the poocherios and finish the laundry. All is well in the Boss household, but it will be better when this place thaws out.
