Winter Excursion 3, Day 88

Woke up this morning at 0700 to a 50 degree camper and no power! The propane ran out last night (go figure) and the power outage has not been fixed. We left camp at 1000 for Cath's hair appointment, still no power. I got the propane tank filled. On the way I saw many down trees and lots of limbs in the roads. Seems we had a small tornado last night in the area and therefore the power outage.
After Cath's hair cut we met Carol for lunch at a local Japanese place. The food was great, fresh and delicious.
We headed back to camp and, Horrah, we had power.
Did a few camp chores and headed to the commissary for some supplies.
We are still full from lunch, so a few toddies and a small dinner of crab sandwiches, some TV, then off to bed. We have power and heat, so we will sleep good tonight.
All is well!🙋

Winter Excursion 3, Day 87

Left camp this morning looking for a deal on new tires for the truck. First tire shop could not  get the ones I wanted. The next place had them in stock and could even install them this afternoon!😃 I headed back to camp as Kim is going to visit this morning.
We had a nice lunch and visit with Kim. I left to get the tires put on and Cath and Kim talked for awhile longer.
The tire shop was great. The Managers and Mechanics were super friendly. They did a great job with the truck. Probably one of the best tire buying experiences I've ever had. Here's the new shoes!
About half way through the tire install the rain started. The wind was howling and the rain got torrential. The drive back to camp was fun (not)!
We grilled chicken during the storm and after dinner the power went out. That means the water went out also as the campground is on a well. So now we can add a power/water outage to our list of campground problems we've encountered this year (see day 82). Off to bed, it's going to get cold tonight.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 86

We spent most of the morning hanging out at the camper. I took Cath over to Carol's and the two of them baked a cherry pie.
I ran some errands and did some camp maintenance.
The tires on the truck are not wearing good and I've been searching the area for some new ones. I found the tires we need and will negotiate the price with the tire shop tomorrow. Hopefully I can get a deal.
Ronnie got home from work around 1730 and we had Frito Pie for dinner. The home-made chili was really good, and the cherry pie for dessert was great.
Back at the camper we had a few night caps and then off to bed.
Heavy rain in the forecast tomorrow. 😠

Winter Excursion 3, Day 85

We spent another day with Ronnie and Carol. I helped Ronnie with a few projects and Cath and Carol made some cherry jam.
Kaylee really likes to go over to their house as she can run off leash.
The temps got back to the 50s today and the wind calmed down.
Late afternoon we were treated to this sunset. The pic really does not do it justice!
All is well back at camp, a few more days here and we are off to New Orleans.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 84

We went over to our friends in the morning again today. Ronnie and I did some more work on the trailer and finished up the ceiling fan installs.
The AFC and NFC championship games started at 1400. We watched both games and they were really good! Both went to OT!
Carol made some delicious nachos to go with the games and we had a few beers (imagine)!
Today was another super moon. Here it is rising at 1650 CST. We did not stay up for the eclipse at midnight.
The girls watched the games also. You can tell they were thrilled. Notice Kaylee, she was thrilled too!
After the games we headed back to camp. 28 degrees tonight, we will sleep good.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 83

We left camp for Ronnie and Carols around 0900. Weather is nice (70s and sunny), but forecast for storms later today. Ronnie and I did some work in one of his rental trailers. Cath and Carol went shopping in Dothan. In the afternoon Ronnie and I installed some new ceiling fans on their front porch. The storms hit around 1700 and we had a tornado watch. We had some high winds, but thankfully no tornados. We had a nice steak dinner with all the trimmings and we headed back to the camper in the evening.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 82

Here's a couple of pics of our site at Ft Rucker. It was nice weather today, high near 70!

I ran a few errands this morning and then we headed over to Ronnie and Carol's. Ronnie and I did a few chores and the girls had fun watching us. We met them for dinner at a pizza joint in Ozark, food was good. They were celebrating their Granddaughter's birthday. A fun time was had by all.
We have had the worst luck with campgrounds this year. First it was Oregon Inlet, NC closed due to hurricane. Then it was Buck Hall closed for water problems. Next it was George L. Smith State Park, GA with no water in the lake. Now we were informed today that the dump station here is closed and they "hope" to have it repaired by next week! There is no full hook-ups here, so everyone relies on the dump station. More to follow in the next few days!
