Winter Excursion 6, Day 10

We spent the entire day in camp. We watched the "mass exodus" in the morning. The campground was almost full yesterday, but by noon there was only about six of us left. We had a few new campers arrive late n the afternoon, so maybe ten campers now. It's really quiet!
We took a little walk in the afternoon. Kaylee got to run off leash, she was thrilled.
Did a little camp maintenance and straightened up the truck.
We watched the last three season three  episodes of Yellowstone and later the two new season four episodes.
It's been a fun day. Tomorrow some exploring is on tap!

Winter Excursion 6, Day 9

We left camp this morning around 0900. Before leaving we went to the dump station as usual. I was not able to dump our tanks as the dump valves were all frozen shut. Temps last nigh were in the low 20s! We ended up towing with full tanks the whole 250 miles to our new campground.
The drive was nice. but Gypsy (GPS) took us on some really lousy backroads, some of them were almost dirt roads! Best one had this one lane, old, bridge that only gave me a few inches of clearance on either side of the camper! Of course there was a 90 degree turn involved too..LOL. Needless to say we did make it and pulled into our new camp around 1530. Here's a pic of our site.
We will be here until Friday and a week from today we get to see the Kiddos!

Winter Excursion 6, Day 8

No pics today, but we had a fun day. Left camp around 1100 and headed to the West Shore Farmer's Market to meet Kristen, Manu, and Luci. We all did lunch, crab cake sandwiches, turkey sandwich, and Won Ton Soup. Cath & I got our "chipped beef" and we said our goodbyes.
Back at camp Ron and Shirley stopped by. These are the folks that are sponsoring a FROG (Forest River Owner's Group) Rally next year at Chenango River Valley State Park near Binghamton, NY.  We had a great time with them as we have never been to a Rally and got tons of info from them as they are the sponsors. Most important info was to bring lots of booze...LOL. After they left we spent the rest of the evening packing up and getting ready to go farther south. We really want to get out of this freezing weather.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 7

We did a little more exploring around the park. Found this sign and thought it would make a good couple of pics.

And of course Kaylee wanted in on the pic also!
This sign is at the Appalachian trail Trail Museum (in the background), it denotes the halfway point on the Trail.
Late afternoon we drove into Carlisle to fill one of the propane tanks. It has been below freezing for the past three nights.
Then we headed over to Kristin and Manu's for dinner and to see the girls. A good time was had by all. We got back to camp around 2130.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 6

We spent the late morning checking out the State Park. Most of the facilities closed last weekend, but you can still check out the attractions here.
This is the dam and spillway that forms Laurel Lake at the far end of the park. There is a swimming area, day use area, and the fishing is said to be good.
This is what's left of the original Pine Grove furnace. It was used for over 100 years for making iron. This area also has a huge day use area. We think in the summer this park gets lots of use.
We did some driving around the local area and found ourselves in the middle of the Pennsylvania apple region. Thousands of apple trees and the Musselman apple processing plant. We also drove into Carlisle to pick up a few things and gas up the truck.
Back at camp it was dinner and a movie.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 5

The rain stopped and the sun came out today!
We left camp around 1000 and headed to the West Shore Farmers Market in Lemoyne, PA. It is only open Tue, Fri, & Sat, but on Tuesday most of the vendors are not open. We will go back again on Friday as we really want to get some of the best chipped dried beef in the world!
Kristen, Manu, and their three girls came over to camp for dinner.  Lucy and Frances are really growing up fast. We had not met the baby (Ester) as she is only 11 months old. We had a great evening catching up on everything.
Freeze warning in effect for tonight, but back home they are going to get some Lake Effect Snow! Glad we are heading south!

Winter Excursion 6, Day 4

We left Montrose CG around 1000. The drive down I-81 was fine until we got to Harrisburg, then the traffic picked up as it always does. We stopped for lunch at a diner off the Interstate and It took almost an hour to get our lunch! We only ordered a Rueben and a Tuna Melt. We think that had to go catch and clean the tuna!
Arrived at our new campground, Pine Grove Furnace State Park, just outside of Carlisle, PA around 1430. It's really nice and we have a super site. Here's a few pics:

We got all set up, had a few toddies, and a nice steak dinner. One thing about this CG is the cell service is very weak and spotty. If you don't see a blog post for a day or two don't worry, I'll post each day as soon as I can. If you need to call or talk with us it's best to text and we'll get back to you.
All is well in the Boss Camp.
