Winter Excursion 6, Day 182 The Life of a Camp Host

Today is our last day off and only one more work day until we leave.
I was just finishing my coffee outside when this dog came tearing through our campsite. He continued to run around like he was possessed, but I think he was just squirrel crazy. I tried to call him and get him on a leash, but he was having nothing to do with that. Turns out he lives just a mile or so away from here and "jail breaks" every once in a while. He did attack tis plastic flamingo near the park office.
We spent the day getting the camper ready to roll. It's been sitting for four months so lots of stuff was out of place.
Here's a pic of us with our co-host. Teri is leaving in the morning. We will all be back together next year hosting at this campground.
Back on duty tomorrow, but it will be "light duty" as it's our last day. Tomorrow's blog post will have all the rest of "the finds of the day" as there are still quite a few I've not posted.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 181 The Life of a Camp Host

We left camp and drive to Ft Stewart again to hit the commissary and Class VI  before we leave on Saturday. Easy drive and the Post is empty as a lot of the units are deployed to Europe.
We stopped at our favorite meat market in Swainsboro and re-stocked our freezer. It wasn't cheap, but worth it to get some good meats. Prices are getting crazy!
Back at camp the find of the day was this stick I made for our co-host to be able to access the dumpster.
Here's the dumpster.
Here's the stick.
And here's where the stick lives when not in use. It's used to prop open the lid for vertically impaired folks.
We will see if it is there next year when we get back.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 180 The Life of a Camp Host

This is our second to last day as Host. We will miss it and look forward to next year.
Here's the find of the day. The camper that told me about it thought it was a butterfly nest. I got a kick out of that!
Just normal duties today. We will spend the next two days off and preparing to leave. It feels sort of strange after four months in the same place.
And BTW the tire repair on the host golf cart worked!

Winter Excursion 6, Day 179 The Life of a Camp Host

Back on duty today, but it was an easy day, just normal duties.
Took a pic of the rose bush in front of our site. Next year I will trim it back a little in January before it starts to wake up from winter.
The find of the day was actually found by my co-host.
It's an upgrade from the cloths pin I found (see Day 132). We will use it when we clean the bathhouse. It sure is fancy compared to a cloths pin!
Only two more host days left, then we are off to B-Ham!

Winter Excursion 6, Day 177 The Life of a Camp Host

Brian had to leave early so he missed breakfast with everyone. Even Wesley ate his breakfast of eggs, hash browns, and bacon!
The fish tank cleaning didn't go so well as we lost the fish. Kennedy and I headed to the fish store and picked up a new Betta.
We did a little drone flying out front. Here's a few pics:

We hung around until after lunch, then said our goodbyes. We will see them all at the family reunion the end of July.
The drive back to camp went quick. We picked up some KFC for dinner and spent the evening relaxing. It's was a good trip, we always love seeing the Kiddos.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 176 The Life of a Camp Host

Here's Kennedy with her "Rainbow Milkshake" yesterday evening. I forgot to post it!
Nicole made a pancake breakfast for all of us this morning. It was yummy!
After breakfast Wesley got a back scratch from Grandad. It was not a part of Kennedy's BSS (Back Scratch Service) which costs $5.00/year. Cath and I are subscribers!
The rest of the day was a blur! Kennedy and Nicole went to softball practice. Wesley, Cath, and I went to the "Bunny Party" (they had rabbits) at 1100. Nicole and Kennedy got to the party at 1300 and Cath and I left with Wesley for his baseball practice. We got back from Wes's practice at 1600. I fixed on of the toilets in the house (new fill valve). Kennedy and I cleaned the fish tank out. Then Nicole and I ordered pizza and waited at Bailey's until it was ready. I guess we had a beer....LOL.
It was a fun day, but didn't get to see Bri. I plan on fixing breakfast for everyone tomorrow.

Winter Excursion 6, Day 175 The Life of a Camp Host

We have the next three days off, so we headed to the Kiddos in Charleston. On the way we stopped for lunch at Frampton Plantation. This is where RT 17 intersects with I95.
There is a Subway right next door, so we got our subs and ate them under the Live Oaks.

Arrived at the Kiddos' house around 1415. Met them at the school bus stop and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing.
Wes had a birthday party to go to and the rest of us went to Cabana Burgers & Shakes for dinner. It's right next to Brickyard. The food was good. The service was slow, but they've only been open for a week.
Brian made it home early and we all watched a Spiderman movie. I didn't get to bed until midnight!
