Eel Weir State Park, Day 9

Woke up to temps in the low 50s. Sleeping was great!
We hung out at camp all day and did a little packing as we return home tomorrow.
While we were sitting around in the afternoon this came by:

It's a 1972!
We had another good dinner from the Blackstone: Philly Cheese Steaks.
There is no rain in the forecast for tomorrow, so packing up should go just fine.

Eel Weir State Park, Day 8

The day started out with another good breakfast on the Blackstone. I know I said it before, but we are loving this griddle. Later we did shrimp wrapped in prosciutto on it for appetizers.
We had another nice weather day and I took the kayak out for a spin.
The current in the river was fairly strong, so I didn't stay out for too long.
Had some ABs before dinner with the shrimp. Had a nice dinner of grilled chicken. Afterward we all sat by the campfire and used up the last of the wood.
It's been a fun week and it looks like the weather is going to cooperate until we get home.

Eel Weir State Park, Day 7

Jerry & Carolyn made a breakfast of SOS..YUM!
After breakfast we sat around and enjoyed the perfect weather. Jerry took a little snooze and Kaylee checked him a few times to make sure he was still alive!
Late morning we all took a drive to Kaneb Orchards near Massena. Had some cider donuts and washed them down with a cider slushy. We also picked up some refreshment for back at camp.
We spent the afternoon relaxing and people watching as it is Friday and many folks are arriving for the Labor Day weekend.
Only a couple more days to go for this trip. The week has gone fast.

Eel Weir State Park, Day 6

It was a beautiful day, the weather is perfect!
Cath and I ran into town, after a breakfast of Scrapple and eggs on the Blackstone, to pick up a few things.
Back at camp we got the campfire going as temps are in the high 60s. We burned it all day.

We could sit here all day long and look at this view.
After a yummy dinner of Gyros on the Blackstone we stayed by the campfire. Some of us nodded off!
Sleep will be great tonight with temps in the high 40s.

Eel Weir State Park, Day 5

The new Blackstone griddle is getting to be our favorite camping tool. We had French Toast and Bacon this morning. We like the griddle as we don't have to cook in the camper and clean-up is a breeze.
We spent most of the day at Jerry & Carolyn's around the campfire as the weather cooled of nicely. Even the dogs were happy.

We have had this hawk in the area since we got here. It's fun to watch him fish, but he squawks all the time. It gets a little irritating.
Around 1500 we had a real gully washer! It only lasted a short while, but it really rained hard and even included hail! Here's tail end of it.
The rest of the day and evening was great. Temps are going to be in the low 50s tonight, perfect sleeping weather.

Eel Weir State Park, Day 4

Jerry & Carolyn left this morning around 0730. They had some stuff to do back home. They left Logan with us, so Kaylee was happy to have a buddy all day.
We hung out a the camper all day and enjoyed a little cooler weather. The dogs and I watched this guy for a long time until he finally left.
Jerry and Carolyn got back around 1500. We had a few ABs, then got dinner ready at our place. We got it all done just in time as the skies opened up once again. The rain stopped after a few hours and by 2100 we were all in bed.
Cooler temps and more rain forecast for tomorrow.

Eel Weir State Park, Day 3

The weatherman was right. It got super hot and humid today. High was 90 deg, 77 is the norm for this time of year! It set a new record in Watertown!
We spent the day roasting at Jerry & Carolyn's site. Here's a pic.

Jerry and I went over to the Amish sawmill in the morning and filled my truck with wood. Price was $5.00! We have more then enough wood for the rest of the time we are here.
Carolyn made brats and potato salad for dinner. I cooked the onions and peppers on the Blackstone.
Here's a view of our site from Jerry & Carolyn's.
Right after dinner the storms started. We had a few lightning strikes within a few hundred feet of the camper. The storms lasted till almost midnight, but we were able to sneak back to our camper by dodging a few rain drops. We have more storms forecast for tomorrow, but the temps be a little nicer.
