Winter Excursion 7, Day 60

Cath & I drove into the grocery store early this morning. We picked up all we needed as we leave tomorrow for our host duties in Georgia. Stocked the fridge, the pantry, and filled the propane tanks.
Around noon Nicole, Mary, and the Kiddos arrived at camp. Nicole brought subs for lunch.
Played with the Kiddos, did some walking, and played a crazy game. Nicole got a long ride on the E-bike.
We all had to say our goodbyes, but we will see them over the next few months.
Cath & I did dinner at SeeWee and got our southern fried food fix!
Off to bed early it will be a long day tomorrow. Rain is in the forecast.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 59

I left camp at 0630 and headed to the Kid's house to finish work on the window boxes. By 1030 I was all done. Here's the "sort of" finished product.

The new drywall needs to be mudded and the baseboard needs some wood putty. It all needs painted, but the Kid's can finish that up.
Back at camp Cath made lunch, I grabbed a shower, and they rode out on the E-bike to check out part of the Palmetto Hiking Trail. The trail near camp was nice and smooth, but when I got near the water it was Live oak Root City and the going was slow. here's a few pics.

Brian stopped by after work to say goodbye as we won't see him tomorrow. Had some local shrimp for dinner. Hit the bed around 2130, it's been a long day.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 58

Drove back to the Kid's house to continue work on the Window Boxes. All went well until I tried to fit the second one in it's "slot". It was off by 1/2" so I spent part of the day doing some modifying. I forgot about the old rule: "measure twice, cut once"! Actually I didn't forget, I just screwed up!
I'll post pics of these things tomorrow as tomorrow is the last day I can work on them. We leave Saturday for Georgia and Friday we are seeing the Kids and Kiddos at the camper. I'm sure they can finish up some of the trim work.
We got back to camp just about sundown and it's still beautiful to see the sunset on the reeds across the Intercostal Waterway we are camped on.
Other than my wood working ability all is well in the Boss camp!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 57

Construction Day!
We got to the Kid's house by 0900. I started on the Window Boxes right away. These are not Window Boxes for flowers, these are for sitting by the window and taking in the world from the room over the garage. Here's a few picks of the framing. I'll post some more tomorrow when I get them installed (there is two of them).
They weight around 50+, but that is without the door on the top. They can be used for storage also.
I used 9 2x4s and need a few more to complete the other one. Yep..there is two of these "seats".
Before we left this afternoon I cut a the lumber needed for the second one.
I'll post some pics of the finished product tomorrow. The second one should go faster than the first.
Back at camp it's dinner and bed, forget the movie!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 56

Nicole and I went to Lowe's this morning and picked up most of the material I needed to build her Window Seats in the FROG (Family Room Over Garage). She's been wanting me to build these for a few years and I figured I better get it done before I'm to old (which won't be long).
Back at the house we got everything unloaded and got the garage partially set up to start construction tomorrow. I'll post picks over the next few days.
We gathered up all our things and drove back to camp. Weather has been really cold and we used a bunch of propane keeping the camper warm while we were gone.
I got a chance to set up my favorite gift (Kennedy picked it out), I've been wanting one of these for years and it's a joke between Cath and I.
I actually want a 20 footer, but Cath has put her foot down...NO!!!!!
We had an early dinner and I was in bed by 2000, Cath wasn't far behind. We will both sleep like bears!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 55

Merry Christmas!
The Kiddos got us up super early,  like around 0400. We managed to stay in bed until 0600.
Before I could even have coffee Wesley was counting all the gifts under the tree. He was particularly looking for ones that had his name on it.
After posing for a photo before the ruckus started, the Kiddos handed out all the presents. A fun time was had by all!
The weather got a little warmer in the afternoon and Kennedy tried out her new camping lounge.
Wesley got a game of Risk, so we had a two hour match in the afternoon.
The snacking and cookie eating continued all day.
Nicole & Brian worked on one of the hardest puzzles I've ever seen. It took hors just to get the border done!
After a super Christmas Dinner of Beef tenderloin everyone spent time on the couches and relaxed. It's been a wonderful holiday and a long couple of days! I think everyone was asleep by 2130.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 54

It's Christmas Eve!
I left the camper right after breakfast to fill our propane tank. The temps last night were exactly as forecast, 18 degrees! We are going through some propane.
We got to the Kid's and Kiddo's house right at lunch time. Everyone had a fun afternoon snacking on Christmas cookies, playing games, and just relaxing. Even Kaylee made herself at home in Ringo's bed.
We had our traditional Low Country Boil for dinner and it was yummy as usual.
After dinner we were entertained by the Kiddos with their Christmas Rendition.
After the show we all watched a movie and tried to get the Kiddos to go to sleep so Santa could do his thing. I think it was midnight before everyone was in bed!
