Winter Excursion 8, Day 6

Today I was a total Bum. I never left the camper and spent the entire day nursing my ankle. Seems like it worked as the pain has subsided and the swelling has gone down.
Cath picked up the slack from my lazy day and has walked Kaylee, made breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I think it's payback from her recent knee surgery...LOL
Tomorrow we will be out and about again, making new and exciting stories....LOL

Winter Excursion 8, Day 5

I’m writing this on our first day at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA. It might be a day or so before I can post it as we have no internet or cell service here.
Today may have been our (my) worst day camping since we started 8 years ago and over 1500 camp days.
I mentioned yesterday that my ankle was “killing” me and it continued so today. To be honest it was a chore to take a few steps.
We had pretty much packed up inside and out before we went to bed last night. All was well.
First story starts back at home. When we left the driveway last week the TPMS went off and indicated tire pressure was 39 psi on the passenger side rear trailer tire (norm is 65 psi). Past years we have had some issues wth that sensor. A few miles down the road TPMS indicated pressure was 42psi. So, I figured the tire was OK as it was rising with the temp, but the sensor was acting up again. For the next 180 miles it stayed at 42 psi. After we got to Schodack SP I checked it and added air to 62 psi to match the rest of the tires, that should have rung a bell in my head, but my foot was still killing me. I thought all was well. Checked it the next day and then never gave it another thought. So, this morning the TPMS showed 29 PSI! as we were leaving.
Drove a few hundred yards to the dump station and then I could see (on asphalt) that the tire was low.
As I got all ready to dump the next big thing occurred. I hooked it all up, the dump site lid was broken and there was no stone in sight. I figured as a seasoned “Dump Master” I could just open the valve slowly and all would be OK. I was wrong! I had crap all over the place! The best part was the water faucet at the dump site was broken and turned off! There was a potable water faucet about 150 feet away. Luckily, I had a 200 ft hose with us and was able to clean everything up. Good thing we had left super early due to the time change and no one noticed what we were up to!
Anyway, we dumped and then headed to the day use (boat ramp) area and changed the tire to the spare. After all we’d been through this morning, I could not believe that the tire change went smoothly, but it did. Cath was a big help as I just limped (gimped) around. Here's a pic. Notice the screw.
We are going to take a few days to just chill here at Pine Grove Furnace SP, PA
Although it doesn’t sound like it all is well in the Boss camp!

Winter Excursion 8, Day 4

I didn't write about this a few days ago, but I sprained my ankle the day we got here. It did not bother me at first, but I think yesterday I over-did it with shopping, walking, and trail riding. We spent today nursing it as it swelled up and hurts like $$## when I put weight on it. I'm sure packing up tomorrow will be an adventure.
We spent the day in the camper watching TV and just taking it easy. People watching was also really fun as the campground filled up for the weekend. There is tons of Kiddos here.
The weather continues to cooperate, but is a little to cool to sit outside. I'm sure that will change when we get a little farther south.

Winter Excursion 8, Day 3

We spent most of the morning around camp. A little before lunch we left to do a little shopping. We stopped a Kohl's as we forgot our bath mat. Went to Wally World for a few food supplies and water. Stopped at a Farmer's Market and picked up a few things we didn't need like raspberry pop-overs and cider donuts.
Back at camp the weather has turned nice, but a little windy. I took a nice ride on the e-bike and checked out all the trails in the park.
We watched a little TV, had a nice dinner, then off to bed.
All is well in the Boss Camp.

Winter Excursion 8, Day 2

It did get cold last night (27 deg), but at least no snow. I think we will get one more night below freezing and that will be it for awhile. It was sunny today and in the low 50s and it's only forecast to get warmer for the next week or so.
We did manage to wash the truck. It looked like it had been in the snow and salt. Oh yea, that's right, it was!
I spent last evening trying to get the TV Satellite system to work. I know we are supposed to be "camping" and TV is a no-no, but 7 months on the road is not really "camping" so we wanted to get it working. In past years it was a no-brainer to set up and get the system working, but last night it was not happening. Today I worked on it for hours. I finally found the problem. Behind the TV is a coax panel for the SAT and TV antenna hookup. Seems that after 7 years the SAT coax connection behind the panel finally worked a little loose causing very low signal strength. A little tightening and all was well again. It only took 5 hours of troubleshooting!
And yes...That is Kaylee in her bed by the fireplace! If you zoom in you can see her nose sticking out. That way she can get some fresh air...LOL.
We will do a little exploring tomorrow including a trip to the store to pick up all the things we forgot!

Winter Excursion 8, Day 1

What a way to start Winter Excursion 8!
Woke up this morning to this sight out of the camper door at 0700.
Had a cup of coffee and got these pics of our house, front yard, and camper.

I drove into town, filled up the truck and headed back to the house. Cath was already packing the inside up and I started on the outside. By 1015 we were ready to head out. We still had snow on the ground, but the local roads were OK.
20 miles south we totally ran out of the snow, and temps climbed into the mid 30s. By the time we got to Rome, NY the sun was out.
We decided to take the Interstate (I90) to get to Schodack SP near Albany, NY. We had sun and clouds the whole way. We arrived at Schodack SP around 1400, it was like another world. LOL. More like we were back in the warm world.
Temps were still in the mid 30s, but no damn snow!
Took our time and spent the late afternoon setting up. We will be here for five days (Sunday).
Here's a few pics of the new site.

Sure beats this morning's pics. LOL
We got all set up, and after a fun Day 1 the Boss camp is all good! Except the truck and camper need to be washed! Damn! I thought I did that last week!

Eel Weir SP, NY Day 11

Fred showed up right on time this morning while we were packing up. He went to his same old perch in the middle of the river. I guess he didn't know it was a Holiday (Labor Day). He should have had the day off!
We left camp around 1000, headed to Jacques Cartier SP to dump and then drove the short distance (65 miles) to home. By 1430 we had the camper empty and relaxed in some household AC. It is damn near 90 outside!
Next Blog entry will be 1 Nov 23, day one of our eighth Winter Trip!
