Winter Excursion 5, Day 59

The day started early as the Kiddos were up around 0700. We held them off until almost 0800. Then it was breakfast time. They only wanted hot chocolate and cold cereal (Kix & Golden Grahams).
After breakfast we headed to the dog park. Kaylee was shy at first, but had a good time later.
On the way back to camp we watched some folks sailing remote control sail boats in the lake. We walked over to a Gentleman to see one of the boats closer. Not only did he explain the sailboat to the Kiddos, he let them sail it for about 10 minutes!

Here's the three of them. I'm not sure who enjoyed it most, the Kiddos or the Gentleman.
Back at camp Wesley met a friend at the pond behind camp while Kennedy and Grandma were shopping.
After lunch it was playground time.

Back at camp it was "lets relax time" before dinner.
Here's Kennedy with her sour face waiting for dinner.
Cath and the Kiddos made some super good pizzas. I cooked them on the grill. They turned out great!
Wesley ate his whole pizza (all four pieces)!
After dinner showers were in order, then a movie in bed. Of course they needed popcorn.

Once again sleep came easy. It was a super fun day!

Winter Excursion 5, Day 58

The Kiddos are coming!
Cath and I went over to the local Walmart to pick up some supplies for the Kiddos. After we got back to camp I left and washed the truck. It was the first wash since we left home, except for "rain washes".
Nicole and the Kiddos arrived around 1400 and the craziness began. They all went for a walk to the giant playground at this park. Here's a pic of the three Ladies.
We played some ping bong at the outdoor table right next to camp. Wesley acted crazy while playing. He laughed so hard he had to take short nap afterward.
Brian arrived around 1730 and we all had a nice dinner of Cath's Famous Goulash!
After dinner The Kids, Kiddos, and Cath went for a drive to check out the lights at the park. They all really wanted to walk the route, but walking is not allowed this year.
Brain and Nicole headed home. The Kiddos and us enjoyed a movie in bed!

Sleep came fast after the movie. A good day was had by all!

Winter Excursion 5, Day 57

We left Buck Hall around 1100. We are always sad to leave that campground as it is our favorite.
We arrived at James Island County Park just after 1200. Traffic on RT 17 was not too bad, but it still isn't fun towing in those narrow streets. You'd think I would be use to to by now!
By 1330 we were all set up. Here's a pic of the site. We have a nice front yard by the community building and a pond behind us. All in all it's a very nice site and it's perfect for people watching, one of our favorite pass times.
Here's the site at night. The lights actually turn red - green - blue.
We were treated to an almost full moon (98%). Here's the view using the "night sight" on the phone's camera.
Another view. The moonlight coupled with all the camper lights really lit this place up!
It was a nice day with perfect weather that should last a few more days. One more week in the Charleston area, then off to Edisto.

Winter Excursion 5, Day 56

Here's Grandma with her two little heart-throbs! The whole clan, plus Mary, got to the campground around 1130.
We all headed to the pier/boat landing to catch a few fish in the Kiddos new casting nets.
Here's Wesley kissing one of the fish we netted! Kennedy refused to kiss a fish this year!

Back at the camper we got some stories from Kennedy and Wesley.
We all headed to Sewee Restaurant for an early lunch. As usual a great meal and a fun time was had by all.

Cath and I got back to camp around 1500. Enjoyed the weather outside for awhile and then came in for a few hands of cribbage.
I got this pic of the marsh as this is our last night here. We are headed for James Island tomorrow
We will see the Kiddos again on Tuesday. They will camp with us for two days. We always have a good time at James Island with them. The light show and the dog park are always a big hit!

Winter Excursion 5, Day 55

The day after Christmas.
Brian was up early to deliver Rick to the airport by 0730. The rest of us (including the Kiddos) slept in till around 0800.
Nicole made another nice breakfast and we spent the rest of the morning playing with all the new toys. Kennedy painted my fingernails (clear), Wesley launched rockets, we all played with the "gravity game", and the Kiddos got their Bug Zappers charged up. Too bad there are no bugs, it was in the 20s last night.
Cath and I left for camp around 1130. Kaylee was happy to get away from her "horror house" (she does not like all the noises)! We drove up to the commissary and Class VI and picked up a few things. Back at camp all was well. We put away our gifts and just relaxed for the afternoon.
It's been a great/fun/wonderful few days, but it's good to be back home to the camper. We will sleep like hibernating bears tonight!

Winter Excursion 5, Day 54

Merry Christmas!
Here's a cute pic of Kennedy somewhere in the neighborhood, with her wanna be Corgi. It's just a cute Christmas pic!
The morning started early for the Kiddos. They slept together as all the bedrooms are full of Grandparents. Anyway, they started in at 0341! They were held off until around 0630. Wesley was Santa this year, but Kennedy was a very good helper.
Here's the two of them.
And here's Santa's hat. He spent the whole day tripping over it..LOL
Kennedy got a nail polish kit from Santa. After she did all her friends in the neighborhood Grandma was next.
We had a super dinner and Christmas was a great success for all. A big thanks and loves to Brian & Nicole.
Last but not least is the "swear jar". If you say a bad word you have to put a dollar in. I almost went broke, but Wesley said he and Kennedy accept credit cards also.
It was a wonderful Christmas 2020 and we look forward to many more.

Winter Excursion 5, Day 53

It's Christmas Eve. We arrived at the Kid's around 1300, just in time for lunch! There is a ton of stuff to eat and snack on around here!
The Kiddos are super excited for Santa to visit tonight.
Nicole made a Low Country Boil for dinner.. Here's a pic. It was delicious!

Brian and I painted the house door to the garage! Nice project for Christmas Eve...LOL.
We all watched a Christmas movie and managed to be in bed by midnight. I could hear hoofs on the roof!

Winter Excursion 5, Day 52

We hung out at camp this morning. Got Kaylee out for a good run.

The Kids came by around 1200. They brought some subs for lunch. Afterwards we did some "fishing". A fun time was had by all.
After the Kids left we packed up all the outside stuff as it is going to rain tonight. We will also be leaving camp for the next two days and will stay at the Kid's house for Christmas.
I've probably posted pics of the marsh at sunset before, but we never get tired of looking at it.

Merry Christmas to all!

Winter Excursion 5, Day 51

We slept in till 0900!
Did a little camp maintenance and then headed off to McClellanville just up the road. There is a really nice seafood market with all local stuff.
Here's a pic going down the lane to the seafood market.
And here's a house in the village. We could live here if we were $$$$$$$aires!
We scored some shrimp dip, scallops, and lump crab meat. Looks like seafood for dinner again...Damn!
We headed down RT17 and ended up at Sewee for lunch. Calamari and fried local shrimp for lunch. And yep a few hush puppies to start the meal!

Back at camp we played some cribbage (Cath is a cheater) and just enjoyed the nice weather.
We miss the Kiddos, but it's been a nice day.

Winter Excursion 5, Day 50

Day 50! It feels like we just left the house!
Left camp at 0930 to deliver Cath for the Great Christmas Cookie Decorating Extravaganza.  Some of the neighborhood kids also participated. Here's a few pics:
Looks like a real mess to me, but a good time was had by all. I heard through the grapevine that the Moms and Grandmas also had a good time sampling the wine!
Some of the finished product!

I didn't stick around for the Cookie painting and headed to the grocery store to pick up the fixins' for dinner at camp. Nicole, Brian, Mary, and the Kiddos came to camp around 1530. We had nachos, Hamburgers, Mac salad, and of course pickles. After dinner the Kiddos got the pie irons out and made a few pies! Here's the pics:
Here's Kennedy acting like a nut!
And the two of them with the irons in the fire!
A fun afternoon and evening was had by all and the weather was perfect. They all left late evening and Cath and I had a night cap and hit the bed. We will sleep good as usual.
