Cranberry Lake SP, NY Day 5

Last day and as usual we are sad.  Would like to stay here another few days as this is an outstanding campground and we have a great site.
I started this trip saying that it was our first "12 volt" trip.  It turned out great, the batteries did very well.  We can live on our batteries for 5 to 6 days without recharge!
Had some more friends drive up this afternoon.  We had a good time visiting with Sharon and Steve. Took a little walk and BSed a lot.
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy for dinner...yum..yum!
Here's a pic of the last campfire at Cranberry Lake.
And of course one more pic of the wild Vizsla. She's tired and slept the entire evening as she has missed her naps all week.

Off to the house tomorrow, grass to cut, wood to split, and more chores that I don't even know about that Cath will think up.
Next camping trip is to Michigan. We leave on 3 Oct.  Tune into the blog for the latest and greatest!

Cranberry Lake SP, NY Day 4

Woke up to 37 deg outside.  Made my coffee and Cath said (from bed) turn on the heat!  So of course the heat got turned on! I sat outside (as I wouldn't want to disturb her beauty sleep) and froze my ass off.  Actually it was really nice, quiet & cool; watched the sunrise.
Our friends came up around noon.

We went to the restaurant in Wanakena,NY (Google that..LOL).  The place was actually really good. We had burgers (1/2 pd) and homemade fries and chips.  The chips were excellent!  Sorry, was so happy with the food I took no pics.
Back at camp we had a few bottles of wine and then pizza on the grill for dinner.
A few nice walks during the day and the day was perfect.  Early to bed as this camping life is wearing us out.  Actually the second pizza looks better than this one, but both were really good.

Cranberry Lake SP, NY Day 3

Very laid back day.  Got up at 0700, had a few cups of coffee and took Kaylee for a walk. As I'm sure you know she hates walks, she wanted to stay in bed...not!
Cath slept in a little and then we had homemade biscuits on the grill, OM-LA-DEE, and sausage for breakfast, very nice!
Rained a little after the walk so we did a little camper maintenance inside.  Actually we only straighten out all the books, maps, and paper stuff we have accumulated. Got rid of a lot of junk (who needs a Binghamton NY guide to theater).
KA and I had a really big walk this afternoon.  Got home and woke Cath up from her nap (camping you know and naps are allowed).  The weather had cleared and temps are now in the low 60s, going into the 40s tonight.  Fire tonight.
This trip is our first 12 volt outing.  It has worked out well and we used the generator for the first time this evening.  Ran it for 2.5 hours and batteries are back up to charge.

As is normal Kaylee is exhausted.  Played in the water, had dinner, and is now out for the count.

Shis-ka-bobs, veggies, and rice for dinner.  Camp meals are terrible!
Off to bed, 40 deg tonight, good sleeping weather.

Cranberry Lake SP, NY Day 2

It was a little windy today, so the boat never made it to the water.  Seems the wind is calm first thing in the morning and then gets cooked up late morning and afternoon.  By evening it is calm again.  Here's a pic of mid afternoon:

Of course Kaylee is having a good time!
Here's one of me. Tried to drag that piece of drift wood up to the camper, but I guess that was in my younger days.  Kaylee thinks it was doable.

We went for a ride late this morning to Wanakena, NY.  There is nothing there but it is a quaint little village.  It has a post office and a bar right next door (same building).  The New York Ranger School is nearby and there is another small restaurant/bar nearby.  We will try it out on Thursday. www.suziethaller.com
Fried potatoes and ham steak (all on the grill) for dinner.
Here's a pic of the evening sunset.

Off to bed early.  BTW: Cath won at cribbage today!

Cranberry Lake SP, NY Day 1

http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24460.html
This is our first 12 volt trip (NO HOOKUPS) and we are anxious to see how it goes.  Don't think there will be any problems as we are sporting two group 31 AGMs.  I think we can run for a week with them, time will tell. We do have a generator backup, but can only run it for a few hours a day (campground rules).
The campground is beautiful and very empty as all the children are all in school.
Here's a pic or two of our site:

During the weeks since our last trip we did a few modifications to the camper. Most notable is the new bulletin board. We had a key hook holder (as seen on the bottom) and had some cork board for a bulletin board.  Cath was not happy so I made a wine cork bulletin board! She is happy now, here's a pic:
Zoom in to the yellow cork, it's my favorite as it says WHOHOO (Wesley WhoHoo).
Last is a pic 25 steps from the camper, looking out toward the lake (west).  I think the boat will be in that pic tomorrow as there are some trout in this lake.
That's it for today.  Very nice here and Cath is getting a little frisky!
