Eel Weir SP, NY Day 11

Fred showed up right on time this morning while we were packing up. He went to his same old perch in the middle of the river. I guess he didn't know it was a Holiday (Labor Day). He should have had the day off!
We left camp around 1000, headed to Jacques Cartier SP to dump and then drove the short distance (65 miles) to home. By 1430 we had the camper empty and relaxed in some household AC. It is damn near 90 outside!
Next Blog entry will be 1 Nov 23, day one of our eighth Winter Trip!

Eel Weir SP, NY Day 10

Today was Sunday our last full day here.
Fred did not show up at all. We figured it is Sunday and that must be his day of rest.
We got a pic of our campers from the river. Jerry and Carolyn's new Brinkley Fiver is in the foreground and our old (but nice) TT is in the background on the left.
We played some more bones, had a nice dinner of leftovers from the past nine days, and had our last campfire.
It's been another nice camping trip, but come to think of it there are no bad ones!

Eel Weir SP, NY Day 9

It was a lazy day at camp. We played some dominoes and just relaxed.
As it is a holiday weekend we got some neighbors and they sure are proud of their music. They made sure the entire campground knew their favorite songs. Around dinner time I finally asked them to turn it down. They did!
Fred hung out in his spot for most of the day, however he was late getting here. We figured it was Saturday so he slept in!
The weather is forecast to turn hotter with temps in the 90s. As we have no power here (except gennys) I'm glad we will be heading home in a few days. 90s in the camper with no AC is not fun.

Eel Weir SP, NY Day 8

The whole time we have been here we have been watching a seagull. The bird was also here the past two years, but we are not sure if it's the same one, but it's habits are the same.
It arrives every morning and sits on a partially sunken log about 100 ft off shore. Once in a while it will take a short flight, but stays in the area. If any other gulls try to share the log with him they get chased off!
We named him Fred. He is a constant source of entertainment!

Eel Weir SP, NY Day 7

We got a visit from some of our friends from back home. Steve and Sharon drove up and spent the afternoon with us.
We all had a great time joking, reminiscing, and telling stories (lies). They left after an early dinner. It was good to see them.
After dinner we sat by the fire until the moon came up around 2100. Then off to bed like most old campers do!

Eel Weir SP, NY Day 6

Today was a repeat of yesterday. LOL!
The weather turned much cooler (YEA!) and temps were in the forties last night. We slept really good.
We did get a visit from one of our camping neighbors.
He pulled up to our site and said it looked like we needed some music. He is 76 years old, homeless, and quite the character. He said his daughter kicked him out of her house because he drinks too much, spends too much time at the bars, and smokes dope! He lives in his 1978 Chevy Suburban (it's rusty blue). He is looking for some abandoned land where he can spend the winter. In his working days he said he was a fireman. I think he was a professional Hippy!
