Winter Excursion 7, Day 60

Cath & I drove into the grocery store early this morning. We picked up all we needed as we leave tomorrow for our host duties in Georgia. Stocked the fridge, the pantry, and filled the propane tanks.
Around noon Nicole, Mary, and the Kiddos arrived at camp. Nicole brought subs for lunch.
Played with the Kiddos, did some walking, and played a crazy game. Nicole got a long ride on the E-bike.
We all had to say our goodbyes, but we will see them over the next few months.
Cath & I did dinner at SeeWee and got our southern fried food fix!
Off to bed early it will be a long day tomorrow. Rain is in the forecast.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 59

I left camp at 0630 and headed to the Kid's house to finish work on the window boxes. By 1030 I was all done. Here's the "sort of" finished product.

The new drywall needs to be mudded and the baseboard needs some wood putty. It all needs painted, but the Kid's can finish that up.
Back at camp Cath made lunch, I grabbed a shower, and they rode out on the E-bike to check out part of the Palmetto Hiking Trail. The trail near camp was nice and smooth, but when I got near the water it was Live oak Root City and the going was slow. here's a few pics.

Brian stopped by after work to say goodbye as we won't see him tomorrow. Had some local shrimp for dinner. Hit the bed around 2130, it's been a long day.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 58

Drove back to the Kid's house to continue work on the Window Boxes. All went well until I tried to fit the second one in it's "slot". It was off by 1/2" so I spent part of the day doing some modifying. I forgot about the old rule: "measure twice, cut once"! Actually I didn't forget, I just screwed up!
I'll post pics of these things tomorrow as tomorrow is the last day I can work on them. We leave Saturday for Georgia and Friday we are seeing the Kids and Kiddos at the camper. I'm sure they can finish up some of the trim work.
We got back to camp just about sundown and it's still beautiful to see the sunset on the reeds across the Intercostal Waterway we are camped on.
Other than my wood working ability all is well in the Boss camp!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 57

Construction Day!
We got to the Kid's house by 0900. I started on the Window Boxes right away. These are not Window Boxes for flowers, these are for sitting by the window and taking in the world from the room over the garage. Here's a few picks of the framing. I'll post some more tomorrow when I get them installed (there is two of them).
They weight around 50+, but that is without the door on the top. They can be used for storage also.
I used 9 2x4s and need a few more to complete the other one. Yep..there is two of these "seats".
Before we left this afternoon I cut a the lumber needed for the second one.
I'll post some pics of the finished product tomorrow. The second one should go faster than the first.
Back at camp it's dinner and bed, forget the movie!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 56

Nicole and I went to Lowe's this morning and picked up most of the material I needed to build her Window Seats in the FROG (Family Room Over Garage). She's been wanting me to build these for a few years and I figured I better get it done before I'm to old (which won't be long).
Back at the house we got everything unloaded and got the garage partially set up to start construction tomorrow. I'll post picks over the next few days.
We gathered up all our things and drove back to camp. Weather has been really cold and we used a bunch of propane keeping the camper warm while we were gone.
I got a chance to set up my favorite gift (Kennedy picked it out), I've been wanting one of these for years and it's a joke between Cath and I.
I actually want a 20 footer, but Cath has put her foot down...NO!!!!!
We had an early dinner and I was in bed by 2000, Cath wasn't far behind. We will both sleep like bears!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 55

Merry Christmas!
The Kiddos got us up super early,  like around 0400. We managed to stay in bed until 0600.
Before I could even have coffee Wesley was counting all the gifts under the tree. He was particularly looking for ones that had his name on it.
After posing for a photo before the ruckus started, the Kiddos handed out all the presents. A fun time was had by all!
The weather got a little warmer in the afternoon and Kennedy tried out her new camping lounge.
Wesley got a game of Risk, so we had a two hour match in the afternoon.
The snacking and cookie eating continued all day.
Nicole & Brian worked on one of the hardest puzzles I've ever seen. It took hors just to get the border done!
After a super Christmas Dinner of Beef tenderloin everyone spent time on the couches and relaxed. It's been a wonderful holiday and a long couple of days! I think everyone was asleep by 2130.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 54

It's Christmas Eve!
I left the camper right after breakfast to fill our propane tank. The temps last night were exactly as forecast, 18 degrees! We are going through some propane.
We got to the Kid's and Kiddo's house right at lunch time. Everyone had a fun afternoon snacking on Christmas cookies, playing games, and just relaxing. Even Kaylee made herself at home in Ringo's bed.
We had our traditional Low Country Boil for dinner and it was yummy as usual.
After dinner we were entertained by the Kiddos with their Christmas Rendition.
After the show we all watched a movie and tried to get the Kiddos to go to sleep so Santa could do his thing. I think it was midnight before everyone was in bed!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 53

I dropped Cath off at the Kid's house. They are having a cookie painting party and gift exchange for some of the neighbor kids. I headed back to camp!

Kaylee and I got a short walk in and id some camp chores. The wind is howling so I battened down the hatches. When this front passes are temps are going from 50 to 18!
Later in the afternoon I picked Cath up and we did some last minute food shopping. The store was packed! On the way back to the camper we went to McClellanville to pick up some fresh shrimp.
Back at camp we did our Christmas gift wrapping. Had a few toddies, a nice dinner, a movie, then off to bed.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 52

We ran in to town this morning for a few last minute things before the holiday. We were back at camp by 1300.
The weather finally cooperated and I was able to ride the e-bike on the trails here. I did 11 miles, the bike rides really nice. Saw this mushroom along the way. It was the only one I saw.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at camp and then left to meet the Kids and Kiddos for dinner. We went to the new Home Team BBQ in Mt Pleasant. A good time was had by all. Here's a few pics.
Here's Wesley being crazy on the outdoor fireplace. It was not burning!
Brain & Nicole. Thanks for dinner!
Nicole and her mini-me, Kennedy.
Here' Mary (Nicole's Mom) with Kennedy. Mary is from Ft Myers, FL and has been dealing with hurricane damage for months!
Kennedy doing a crazy selfie!
And the whole group at the table. We had a really good time.
Back at camp we didn't even finish a movie we started. Just headed off to bed.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 51

We all slept in a little this morning, it was a late night. While getting my first cup of coffee the Kiddos decided to get in bed together as I had broke down the table where Wes was sleeping. Craziness' ensued!
Finally got Kennedy out of the bed and made it back into a couch. Wes decided to sleep on the floor!
We all had breakfast and then played games, as it's been raining all night and all morning. After a nice walk we had a quick lunch and then another Christmas movie. After the movie it was time to pack up the Kiddo's stuff and head for home.
After we dropped them off we headed back to the camper.
A nice dinner, maybe a movie, then off to dream land. It's been another fun, crazy day, but super fun!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 50

Back at the Kiddo's house today I got pictures of the Ginger Bread Houses.
Here's the one Kennedy and I worked on. It came out great!
This one was made by Wesley and his buddies. It also came out great!
Got this pic of a worn out puppy. Ringo is about 6 months old now.
Mid afternoon we headed back to camp with Wesley. Bri, Nicole, and Kennedy arrived at camp around 1900 after basketball practice. We all had a nice dinner, then Bri and Nicole left.
After a Christmas movie we all went to bed. It's been a long day!

Winter Excursion 7, Day 49

Left camp and drove to the PX to pick up a few items. From there we headed to the Kid's house so Cath could continue her Christmas Cookie baking (that's the last thing I want to hinder)!
I helped Kennedy build her Ginger Bread House.
She did a really great job. I forgot to get a pic of the finished product. I'll get that tomorrow if the house wasn't eaten.
Played some football with Wes. Kaylee sat on the steps and watched the game.
Cath finished up around 1500 and we drove back to camp. Relaxed for a few hours, had a nice dinner, then off to bed.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 48

We left camp and headed to the Kid's house so Cath could resume her baking duties. I can't wait to try all the cookies she's been baking!
I spent the day doing a few errands and getting the truck cleaned up from two weeks at the beach. The inside was the worst with tons of sand everywhere. I think I got all the salt and sand cleaned up. It turned out pretty good. Here's the clean truck and the new e-bike.
We were back at camp by 1700 and enjoyed a peaceful evening.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 47

We were up early and spent the morning packing up to move back to Buck Hall. We were on the road by 1030. On the way the camper TPMS went off. I watched the tire pressure go from 65 to 60, 59, 58, 57....and on down to 50 when I finally found a place to stop. After a few choice words that I can't put in the blog I walked back expecting to see a flat, but all I heard was air hissing. I figured we'd picked up a nail, but as luck world have it the TPMS sensor had come loose on the valve stem. I tightened it, the hissing stopped, and we drove the rest of the way to Buck Hall.
We did a quick setup, had a little lunch and then drove to the kid's house.
Waiting for us in the garage was our new e-bike. It's a Heybike Mars. It's a big improvement over our little one.

We gave the old one to the Kiddos and they are jazzed. Here's Wesley cleaning it up and lubricating it.
Everyone one took the new bike for a ride.
We head out to Baker and Brewer for an early dinner.
After dinner we toured some of the neighborhoods in the area to gawk at the Christmas Lights.

We also stopped at Charleston Center. It was super crowded so we didn't stay long.
This display is around 10 ft. high and made from Legos!
Back at the Kid's house we didn't stay long as it's been a long day for us. Sleep will come fast tonight.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 46

We had a lazy morning and just hung out at camp.
Around 1300 we headed out for lunch at the local Mexican joint. The house special was really good. It had grilled chicken strips. chorizo, and steak strips, all seasoned and in some sort of gravy.
Back at camp we played cribbage all afternoon.
After a few toddies and a light dinner (we are still stuffed from lunch) we caught a movie, then off to bed. Tomorrow is moving day.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 45

We left camp and headed out to do our favorite chore...Laundry (NOT!) The closest laundromat to Edisto is about 1 hour away. It is a little one, so we drove to North Charleston to a huge on we have been to before. Cath had it all done in under 2 hours.
On the way back to camp we spotted this Santa waving in the wind.

I always tease Cath that I want one of these twirly things, but she always says "No", even if it's a Santa. I think one in front of the camper would be 'cool".
The storm was not as bad as forecast, but it rained hard for awhile and the wind has been strong. The sun came out late in the afternoon and we were treated to another beautiful sunset.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 44

We hung out a camp today except for a short drive around Edisto.
We got most everything put away or covered as we are forecast to get some storms blowing through tonight and tomorrow.
A nice dinner, a movie, then off to bed. It's been a lazy day.

Winter Excursion 7, Day 43

We drove back to Charleston today. I've been having connections issues with the new hotspot we got a few weeks ago. Verizon was great and took the new one back. I'm posting this on the new one and all is good! The past few weeks have been frustrating!
On the was home we took a backroad to go through Hollywood, SC and were treated with these Christmas Decorations.
This is on the corner off the main road.
This is looking down the street.
They have the whole street and all the yards decorated!
If we get a chance we will try to get some pics at night.

Our other big find today was at the "Food Lion" grocery in Ravenel, SC. They had Cheerwine! See yesterday's post.
I tried it; not too bad; cherry soda. Cath tried it and said YUK!
Back at camp we are expecting rain tonight and tomorrow.
It will be nice just to chill for a few days.
