Winter Excursion 1, Day 53

Slept in a little, then headed to the Kids after a nice breakfast. Did a few errands on the way. Cath found her long looked for 7 inch cake pans! WooWho...maybe a cake is in my future.
Kiddos are doing fine although a little under the weather.
Football food for dinner and a few libations, plus lots of football. Did the wings on the grill and then pasted them with some yummy BBQ sauces we picked up at the local Green Egg store. Cath and Nicole made some super Nachos. I love the holidays!
Back to the camper by 2030. Still watching some football, bed will come soon.
Sorry no pics today.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 52

Started the day off with a hair cut, first one since we started. Cath was going to stop feeding me if I didn't make it happen.
After the chop-chop I took Cath to the Waffle House for breakfast. She had never been and was not impressed. I'm sure that was my last time at Waffle House.
We came back to the camper and chilled for a few hours.
Then we were off to Charleston Air Force Base. Bri had arranged a private tour of a C17. Seems one of his employees is the girlfriend of a C17 pilot. It was a great tour, first time I've been on a flight line since 2005. Here's a few pics.
Pic doesn't do the plane justice, these things are huge!
This is the one we boarded.
Wesley at the controls.
Another one of Wesley and Kennedy at the controls.
Bri and the Kiddos on the jump seats in the cargo bay.
View of the flight line.
Afterward, back at the house, we got another show after a great Lasagna dinner (Thanks again Nicole).
Back to the camper by 2030. Football and football food tomorrow. Now it's bed time.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 51

Got up this morning and grabbed showers in the camper. It's really nice to have full hook-ups and not have to worry about full tanks. Had a quick breakfast, gassed up the truck, and were on the way to meet Nicole, Mary, and the Kiddos at Charleston Tea Plantation. This place was really interesting, check out the website.
Here's the Kiddos with Mr. Froggy, probably been millions of pics taken with this guy.
Nicole, Mary, Cath, and the Kiddos took the trolley tour of the plantation. Kaylee and I did a long walk of the grounds.
Here's two pics of the tea fields. The grooming is impeccable.
The machinery used to harvest the tea is really interesting. They had a tour of the fields and a video tour of the equipment to harvest and prepare the tea.
Afterward we went to a super joint for lunch.  The Tattooed Moose was really fun and the food was great. Cross between a biker bar and a BBQ joint.
Here's Kennedy writing on the wall along with the 100,000 other signatures and graffiti.
All in all was a fun day. We are off to tour an Air Force C-17 tomorrow. Bri managed to finagle a private tour. It should be interesting. Will post some pics tomorrow if I'm allowed to photograph things.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 50

Moving Day.
We got up at 0800. Packed everything up and was on the road by 1000 (we didn't exactly rush, as yesterday was tiring).
Drove back to Foster Creek and was set up and ready to go by 1300. Did a little shopping, mainly looking for Kaylee's bones, but no joy. TSC, Petsmart, and Petco are all out of her bones. Found one bag of little ones and she devoured two of them in minutes. Oh well, we will just have to keep looking.
Campground is fairly full, lots of retired folks. The next door neighbors are retired Army also, and really nice. Look forward to an evening of conversation with them.
No pics today, sorry. Off to Charleston Tea Plantation tomorrow, I'll post some pics.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 49

The day after Christmas!
Brian, Nicole, Mary, and the Kiddos arrived at camp around noon. We did hamburgs on the grill for lunch. We played dueling hammocks, as we had them both set up.
Here's Mary and the Kiddos.
Did some fishing with the Kiddos, but no luck. We did get Nicole's fishing rod squared away, she is a great caster.
Back at the camper we had a few snacks.
Wesley particularly liked the BBQ potato chips. Notice Kaylee cleaning his hand.
Cath and I sat by the fire for awhile after everyone left.
Moving day tomorrow, so we will be packing it up early in the morning.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 48

Christmas Day!
Day started at 0530. We spent the night at the Kids and Bri & I got up before the Kiddos.
The tree got really full last night, I think they need a bigger house. LOL.
Kennedy in her mermaid blanket.
The Kiddos with the new Hotwheels race track.
Later in the day we were all exhausted. Here's Mama.
And here's the dogs, they were beat also.
The Kiddos again in the mermaid blanket and shark blanket.
Being a golf family Christmas was not complete without a new practice putting rug.
The Kiddos again with the racetrack.
Prime rib on the weber for dinner, it was a great meal.
Cath and I headed back to the camper at 2000. Unloaded the truck, had a libation, and hit the rack by 2200.
It was a wonderful Christmas, the Kiddos made it special, and Bri & Nicole made it memorable. They are a wonderful family and they made our Holiday.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 47

Christmas Eve.
Got to the Kids house by noon. The Kiddos are all excited!
Ran a few errands and did a few chores for Brian. Weather was nice, mid 70s and sunny. The kids played outside most of the afternoon. I watched a lot of football.
Nicole made a Low Country Boil for dinner, it was scrumptious.
Here's her and the Kiddos watching Santa's progress.
Kiddos went to bed and fell right to sleep. We watched the Griswold's Christmas, what a hoot!
Got everything under the tree and finally got to bed at 2300. 0530 will come early, hope we all sleep good.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 46

Slept in a little this morning and then did dome camp maintenance.
We left camp and did a few last minute errands and headed to the Kid's house.
Mary (Nicole's Mom) arrived last night and it was great to see her today. The Kiddos were having a good time and are really excited for the big day.
Took Cath to get her hair done. It looks really nice, no more camping chick.
Went to a party at the neighbors and had some great food, cookies, and libations. Cath's eggnog was a big hit.
The Kiddos put on a show for everyone.  Here's a five second clip of the two minute presentation.
Afterward Cath and I headed back to the camper for a good nights sleep.
Christmas eve tomorrow and we can't wait to see the Kiddos reaction on Christmas morning.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 45

Woke up and was out of the camper to do some fishing at 0700. This is what greeted me.
It was a really low tide. If you look at the pic close you can see the dolphin going up the waterway. It was really cool to watch them. I wish I'd gotten some better pics.
The Kiddos arrived around 1300.  We had a blast as usual.
Here's the Kiddos in the hammock, they love this thing.
Grandma and the WooWho, vizsla in the background.
Kaylee likes the warm sun, It was 73 deg today!
In case you've forgotten this is a dandelion.
And some big boat traffic on the waterway.
My drone neighbor (Bob) did a few shots of the camper and campground.
Our camper and truck.
Off to bed, it was another great day with the Kiddos. Christmas is just around the corner.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 44

Down Day. No BSing, we missed the Kiddos. Nicole got to have them all day😒.
Coffee this morning and then ran down to the SeeWee outpost for some ham biscuits, they were as good as the locals say they are.
Ran some quick errands and was back to camp by noon.
One of our fellow campers had a drone and took some pics.
This is Greg and I fishing (another fellow camper). Pic from the drone.
Here's one from the drone of the campground. From the building toward the back, to the right, we are the first camper.
No luck fishing, but had a good time yakking with all the other folks here. I'll try again in the morning, This saltwater fishing is a lot different than what I'm used to.
Back at the camper, Cath was having a lazy afternoon.
And so was Kaylee.
Yea, she's actually in her "dog cave".
Here's a view from our campsite.
Yep, that is the ocean just past the trees.
So a little TV this evening and then off to bed, BSing duties resume tomorrow.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 43

Moving day and recovery day from Brian's birthday.
Nicole made some great biscuits this morning, pimento and cheddar cheese. Cath and I left around 0930 and headed back to the camper to pack up and move. We were on the road before noon and had the camper set up and ready to go at the new spot by 1400.
Nicole and Kiddos arrived around 1500. Temp was cold today (41 deg) so we got a fire going. Bri showed up about 1800 with tons of new wood for the campfire.  We had chili dogs and Frito pie for dinner. No pics today, but I'm sure there will be lots in the days to come. Early to bed as we need to regain our strength for the upcoming festivities.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 42

Happy Birthday Brian!
Got over to the Kids house before noon. Played with the Kiddos all afternoon.
Brian had the day off so he painted ginger bread men with the Kiddos.
The finished products.
And Nicole made some delicious Golden Cups.
In the evening the adults went to the Charleston Grill for a late dinner and fine dining.  It was fabulous.

Stayed at the Kid's house last night after the Uber ride home. Tomorrow is moving day.

Winter Excursion 1, Day 41

After a short nights sleep awoke to dense fog, but warm. It hit 76 deg today and the sun finally came out. I actually have the AC on as I write this. After pancakes and sausage for breakfast we all headed to the beach. It was really foggy there, we could barley see 100 yds.
After the beach we headed to Poe's Tavern for burgers and beer.
If you sit outside at Poe's you can have your pet with you. The folks at the next table had an interesting pet.  It's a 1 year old Boa Constrictor.
We headed back to the camper by 1500 for some football and naps. The Kids and Kiddos can wear you out!

Winter Excursion 1, Day 40

Woke to a nice warm day. Yesterday we barley broke 40 deg, this morning was already 50 and climbed to 70 by mid-day. Left camp at 1000 headed to the Kids for our BSing duties. Washed and waxed the truck (with Kennedy's help) after a few errands. Afterward the Kiddos and I built a ginger bread house.
They did a really good job!
 Finished product.
Grandma baked cookies all day and also had help from the Kiddos.

We had a yummy dinner of enchiladas. Then the Kids got ready for their Bad Santa Party.
And about 0100 in the morning they returned. Yep, they were that bad.
Got to bed around 0130, that's the latest for me in years.
