Winter Excursion 3, Day 31

We arrived at the Kid's house around 1000. It's laundry day for Cath. I ran a few errands and then picked up Wesley from school. The teacher said she was looking for a "big brown truck" to pick him up.
Back at the house we set up the squirrel trap after lunch. Here's Wes looking for the critters.
And here's the trap.
A close up.
Here's Wesley acting like his crazy shelf.
He decided that there are no squirrels in the front yard, so we had to move to the back. I told him we caught an invisible squirrel, but the said there is no such thing!
Had a nice dinner with the kids and Mom and Dad. Then the kiddos hit the rack.
They went sound asleep right away.
Cath and I got back to camp around 2200. We will be going to the kids again tomorrow to babysit for the entire weekend. Brian and Nicole are attending a wedding in Florida.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 30

I left Cath and Kaylee at camp and headed over to Yeaman's Hall to do some fishing. It was an incoming tide with a light wind. Here's a view of the Cooper River from the dock at Yeaman's Hall.

Didn't catch anything worth keeping, a few bull-heads and this eel. YUCK!
I was back home by 1300. Spent the afternoon playing cribbage. Cath made a nice dinner of lamb chops and we watched a little TV in the evening. Off to see the Kiddos tomorrow, we haven't seen them in two days and we need our fix.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 29

Spent the morning doing a little camp maintenance. The trailer needed leveling again.
We drove back over to the Main Exchange at Charleston AFB and picked up a few more lights for Brian. Grabbed a quick lunch and spent an hour splitting wood. The cedar I got from Brian is great, but it is a bear to split.I got a few rounds done and the fire is ready for later.
Here's what's left to do. I've got a month to get it all done.
We spent the late afternoon and evening by the campfire, the weather has been perfect. Brian stopped by to pickup his lights, then Cath and I had dinner.
A few shows then off to bed.
The next few nights are forecast to be below freezing. I'll have to hook up the heated hose.😰😰

Winter Excursion 3, Day 28

After a nice breakfast we left camp and drove to the Main Exchange at Charleston Air Force Base. Nice large PX. Picked up a few things for the camper and a few lights Brian wanted for his CHristmas light display.
Got to the Kid's house around 1300 and watched some football.
Bri and I spent the afternoon getting all the lights up, the Kiddos are excited.
Had some really good pizza from Dough-Re-Me (the local pizza joint).
After dinner we had to check out the lights! I think they look great.
We headed back to camp, watched a little TV, then hit the hay for another good night's sleep.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 27

Ctah & I spent a lazy morning in the camper. A little camp maintenance and general cleanup.
Went over to the Kiddos after lunch. The obligatory "experiments" were in order. Along with some basketball.
Nicole made some yummy turkey sandwiches for dinner, then we were off to the James Island Holiday Festival of Lights.
Here's Kennedy on the carousel.
And Wesley on his Raptor (everything is dinos).
The Kiddos visited Santa for their annual picture and conveyed their Christmas wish list to him.
Here's Wes being his crazy self, while Kennedy poses like a princess.
Here's the finished product. The Kiddos are getting big!
This is Wesley posing with a Reindeer.
This festival is celebrating it's 50th year. It is really impressive! This is a sand sculpture.
I thought this pic was really nice. Full moon over the South Carolina Palmetto Tree.
Here's the whole gang getting ready for the Christmas Trolley ride. It takes us through all the lights and there are thousands of them.
Headed back to the Kid's house through a huge traffic jam. Caught a little of the Notre Dame/USC game, and Cath and I headed home.
It's been a great day!

Winter Excursion 3, Day 26

Nicole, Rick, and the Kiddos arrived at camp around 1130. We all headed to Bee City near Summerville, SC. Bee City is an interactive zoo for the Kids. Here's a few pics.

The Kiddos had a great time.
Afterward, we drove through Givhans Ferry State Park and checked out the campground. It's nice and we may stay there sometime, but it's an hour drive from the Kiddos.
We stopped in Summerville and had a good BBQ lunch at Baker's Pond. They had really good slow cooked BBQ with all the trimmings.
Back at camp the Kiddos did a little art work on our new blackboard/magnet board. Here's the result!
Cath and I had a quiet evening and watched some college football. Sleep will be easy tonight.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 25

Happy Thanksgiving!
We left for the Kids house around 1000. Gassed up on the way. I love South Carolina, the land of cheap gas and booze!
Had a fun day with the Kiddos, games and experiments.
Spent the afternoon cooking the turkey on Brian's Weber, it came out really good.
Bri made it home before dinner and got a chance to relax after T-day at the club.
Here's the table before the big meal. Kennedy and Wesley did a great job of decorating the napkins.
Here's the feast!
The Kiddos had a great time.
Here's Wes with his "dinosaur bone".
He cleaned the whole thing!
A good time was had by all. Special thanks to Cath and Nicole for making all the trimmings and pies! 😍

Winter Excursion 3, Day 24

Left camp this morning and drove to the Kiddos house.
Nicole's father arrived last night. It was good to talk to him and catch up on what's new. We haven't seen him since last year. We played with the Kiddos and then we all headed to SeeWee for lunch. It was great as usual.
After lunch I went to Buck Hall to do a little fishing. Caught a few small ones, but no keepers.
Back at the house the girls were doing some Thanksgiving Feast prep.
I helped the neighbor (Jim) get ready for the annual Oyster Roast.
The Kiddos had a fun afternoon playing with some of the other kids that are visiting next door. Here they are in a bike frenzy in the cul-de-sac.
We all went over to the Oyster Roast around 1800, ate our fill of all the good food, and enjoyed yakking with all the neighbors.
Cath & I got back to the camper around 2130 and went straight to bed. It was a busy day, but a great time.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 23

Left camp this morning and did our final shopping for Thanksgiving. Arrived at the Kiddos house at 1130.
DId a batch of peel n' eat shrimp for the oyster roast tomorrow evening and Cath started her T-day cooking.
Picked up Wesley from school and had a nice lunch (Thanks Nicole).
Spent the afternoon splitting what was left of Brian's wood. It will get used at the oyster roast tomorrow.
Left for camp around 1630, fought the traffic, and arrived at camp about 1745.
Kaylee was glad to be back and immediately crawled into her cave.
Installed the last chalkboard/magnetic board panel. The Kiddos will be able to use it for chalk art.
We did a movie and then hit the rack.
All is well in the Boss Camp!

Winter Excursion 3, Day 22

We slept like babies last night, the Kiddos can wear you out.
Camper clean-up this morning and Cath grabbed a shower. I went searching for some fishing spots and found a couple in the area.
We left camp around 1130, picked up some JJ subs, and headed to the Kiddos house. Wesley and Nicole arrived a few minutes after us. We had lunch and then went out in the front yard for some basketball, baseball, and paper airplane flying. The day is beautiful, sunny and temps in the low 70s.
Kennedy got home at 1515. Cath and her got a walk in and then we had to head for home.
Nice quiet evening sitting outside of the camper. Nice sunset.
A little TV then off to LaLa land.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 21

Kiddos and Grandparents slept in until 0730 when they arrived in our bedroom. We played in bed until 0800.
Breakfast and then the hair salon opened. Here's my new "do:.
Bike rides, playground, and art work, were the themes for the day. The drum set got a makeover and we all enjoyed some "jammin'"!
Mom and Dad arrived around 1500. The Kiddos were happy to see them. Mom got a few minutes of well deserved nap time and Wesley constructed a fort in the camper.
Of course the rain had to start around 1630 and lasted an hour or so. We can't seem to get away from wet weather, but a least it's warm here (mid 70s).
Cath made a nice dinner of spaghetti and mini meatballs and we all gobbled it up, to include the Kiddos.
Cath & I had a great weekend with the Kiddos and look forward to a few more. I think we are a bit wore out also.

Winter Excursion 3, Day 20

Day 20 will be a day to remember!
Kiddos arrived at 0900. The craziness started immediately when Wesley was drinking from the rain spout on the camper.
The experiments also started right away. First was the volcano.
Here's the eruption!
And then everyone celebrated.
One last close up of the mountain.
The next experiment was the dancing bubbles.
It looked like a mini lava lamp.
We had a break for lunch after a few bike rides and walks.
Third experiment was quick sand. They colored it light blue!
After so many experiments some quiet time was in order. And yep, there was a show playing (Paw Patrol & Blaze).
The salt table was the next item on the agenda. Pictures and word practice.
Late afternoon the drumming started.
The day would not be complete without a game of "Go Fish". Wesley won of course.
Then one more experiment.
Meet the Glow Worms.
We did home made, hand tossed, individual pizzas for dinner. The Kiddos had plain cheese and they both ate the whole thing!
After that is was show time, the hit smash movie Jurassic World was playing. Everyone got scared by all the dinos.
After the movie the Kiddos did not want to go to bed. We insisted and they promptly fell asleep, it took like 30 seconds.
Cath and I were right behind them, after 13 hours of Kiddos we were exhausted. I think everyone except Kaylee will sleep really good.
It was a wonderful day!
