Winter Excursion 10, Day 54

We left the Kid's house this morning and were back at the camper by noon. It was good to be back "home". We both noticed how quiet it was without the Kiddos and Corgis.
We just relaxed and watched all the football games in the afternoon.
After dinner it was not long before we hit the hay. I'm sure we will sleep very good!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 53

Everyone slept in a little and after a nice breakfast we got the day started.
Brian and I had a nice long walk with the dogs. Then we spent some time cleaning up the garage and setting up the ping pong table. The Kid's have company coming this evening.
I forgot to mention that Nicole's Mom, Mary, arrived yesterday for the Holidays. It was good to see her again. She was on the cruise with us this past summer.
Nick, Katie, and their kiddos arrived late afternoon. It was good to see Nick again after my time at his folks house for a Bills game.
We had enough food for a small army; pulled pork, cookies, brisket, cookies, salads, cookies, veggies, cookies, mac salad, cookies, and another banana cream pie. Did I mention COOKIES! It was another fun evening.
After their friends left we watched the first Avatar movie in preparation to see the new Avatar #3 movie next weekend. We still need to watch #2.
We will sleep good tonight!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 52

Happy Birthday Brian! Our little boy is 46 today. Time flies!
We went over to the Kid's house to spend the weekend and celebrate Brian's Birthday. We did homemade pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven. Everyone had a good time making the pies and of course eating them. Nicole made a super good banana cream pie (Brian's favorite).
After dinner and a little celebrating we all watched a couple of specials about the Eras Tour. Nicole and Kennedy are huge Swifties.
All in all it's been a fun day.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 51

We had lunch at our favorite Fish n' Chips joint. After that we took a drive to a new to us grocery store. It's called LIDL. It reminded us of an Aldi on steroids. We were especially impressed with the bakery.
From there we drove to the Kid's to pick up our new glasses that finally arrived. I'm happy with mine, but Cath is having some issues with hers. We will wait till after the weekend to go back to the optometrist to have them checked.
The drive from Kid's house back to camp took an hour and a half! The traffic was terrible.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 50

It was nice to get back to the camper this morning. We did a little camp maintenance, but for the most part we just relaxed.
We did a quick run to the PX for a few things.
We spent most of the afternoon and evening outside. The weather has finally turned nice again.
Our new neighbors came over to say Hi and we yakked with them for awhile. It is their first time in the Charleston area and we gave them a few ideas for places to visit. They are only here for a couple of days.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 49

Cath has all her Christmas baking done! We were even allowed to sample a few of her creations today!
I drove back to camp again this morning. We needed propane again as the weather has been freezing at night.
Wesley had a Band Concert in the evening. He plays the clarinet! Here's a few pics from the concert.
Here's the band director in his Christmas suit!

Here's Wes.
Once again we styed the night. We are looking forward to sleeping in the camper again!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 48

I took Cath over to the Kid's house to work on her Xmas Cooking Bakeoff. After I dropped her off I drove back to camp.
The RV Tech showed up around noon and we got the new oven installed. It works great! We also got the new sewer hose holder installed. The camper already had one mounted under the belly, but twice on the way down here we needed addition hose to reach the site sewer hookup. Now we have two holders side by side.
After the Tech left I drove back to the Kid's hose. Wesley has another basketball game this evening. It's his last until after the holidays. Unfortunately they lost. The team is now 3 and 1. Wesley did score again, he's doing well.
After the game we watched some Monday Night Football. We are staying the night.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 47

We ran a few errands this morning and picked up some subs to share with the Kids and Kiddos during the football games.
I put the final coat of poly on the oyster table. The table is now 8 years old and was starting to show it's age. I think it will last for another eight!
After the game we headed back to camp. I wanted to batten down the hatches as temps are forecast to be in the low 20s tonight.

Sunday, December 14, 2025

Winter Excursion 10, Day 46

We let the Kid's house around 0730 and headed back to camp.
After showers and some breakfast we left camp for Wesley's basketball game in Summerville. The boys did good with another nail biter and won the game in the last 2 minutes after trailing the entire time! That makes the team 3 and 0!
Brian had to work today, but Nicole and the Kiddos came over to camp after the game. We sat outside as the weather is perfect. We made "smash burgers" on the flat top with all the trimmings. They left around 1800.
Cath and I cleaned up a little, but hit the sack early. It's been a whirlwind weekend.

Saturday, December 13, 2025

Winter Excursion 10, Day 45

We did a little camp maintenance this morning and then headed over to the Kid's. Wesley has another basketball game this evening.
We enjoyed some Migi's Pizza before the game then headed over to the school.
The boys won again. This was a really close game. The score went back and forth, but was never more than a 5 point difference. They won by 2 points!
Back at the Kid's house we watched the first two episodes of a Taylor Swift documentary. Kennedy and Nicole are huge Swifties!
We ended up spending the night. It's been a fun day.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 44

Cath spent the morning baking her Christmas cookies. She has 5 of 10 batches completed.
I spent the day "supervising" the garage door installers. Not really, but they were both vets and we yakked it up quite a bit.
We got some good news today. Our new oven for the camper arrived. I hope to get it installed in the next few days.
Back at camp we buttoned down the hatches. More cold weather is forecast, even into the 20s this weekend! I'll trade these temps for what's going on back home. Looks like Lake Effect Snow is forecast for the next six or seven days.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 43

We drove back to the Kid's house this morning and arrived around 1130 after a 90 minute trip! It normally takes about 20 minutes. Traffic was terrible as there had been freezing fog this morning causing black ice on the I-526 bridge. There were multiple accidents which caused traffic backups into the afternoon.
We spent the afternoon doing laundry and cleaning up the garage. The Kids are getting new garage doors tomorrow.
In the evening we went to Wesley's first basketball game that was not a practice. The team crushed it, beating their opponent 51 -14.
After the game we went to SeeWee for our annual "fry fix". The seafood was good as usual.
Back at the Kid's house we spent the night.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 42

We did laundry at the Kid's house this afternoon.
In the evening we attended Kennedy's Winter Orchestra Concert. All the Kiddos did really well.

This will be her last year in the Middle School Orchestra, hopefully she continues in High School.
Back at camp we are looking at temps in the 20s tonight! It is forecast to warm back up tomorrow.

Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Winter Excursion 10, Day 41

It was a nice day off!
We hung out at the camper all day. Played a little cribbage, did a few chores, but just relaxed for the most part.
The weather has tuned cold. Temps in the high 40s and into the 30s at night. Our new camper goes through propane like it's water. We think it's due to not only the heater, but the on-demand water heater also. When it's cold outside we go through a 30 pounder in for or five days!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 40

No breakfast sandwiches this morning. Instead We just had eggs, sausage, and hash browns thanks to me!
We spent the morning cleaning up the camper and putting stuff away. We left camp around 1130 and headed to the Kid's house. Wesley wanted to be back home before the Bills game starts.
Brian and I finished up the Holiday decorations. Here's a few pics I took after dark.

After dinner Cath and I headed back to camp. If's been a fun weekend, but we are taking the day off tomorrow.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 39

We were super happy this morning that Wesley is here. He made his World Famous Breakfast Sandwiches for us this morning.

As usual they were fantastic or as the saying goes nowadays, they were Fabuloso with Lysol!
Wesley shared his golf course designing skills with me.
He has a few more holes to complete, but so far he could be the next Seth Raynor.
We were camper bound all day as the weather is terrible. Cribbage was the happening thing all afternoon. Cath Won!
We did sneak out to EVO Pizzeria for dinner. It was fantastic as usual.
Wes and I watched a great College Football game until almost midnight. Then is was bedtime. It's been a fun day!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 38

We spent the morning in camp cleaning up and doing a few camp maintenance chores.
Around noon we left camp for the Kid's house. Cath got started on her cookies!
The Kiddos got home from school around 1530. We left with Wesley around 1700 and drove back to camp. Wes is spending the weekend with us. Kennedy is busy with baby sitting and Girl Scouts. We will take Wes back on Sunday.
The weather is lousy, rainy, foggy, and temps in the 50s. YUK! Looks like we will be camper bound all weekend!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 37

This morning we shopped for the supplies Cath needs for her Christmas Cookies. She plans on making 10 different cookies. I'll do my best to get some pics once she starts.
We dropped off the supplies at the Kid's house and then took the long way back to the camper. We drove up to Buck Hall (one of our favorite CGs) and then through Francis Marion National Forest to RT 41. We were amazed at how built up RT 41 is. Last year many of the stores, apartments, and businesses were not even there!
Back at camp we had a nice dinner, watched some TV, and buttoned down the hatches as rain is forecast for the next three days.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 36

We drove to Edisto Beach this morning to visit our friends Jerry & Carolyn. They are camped in the forest side of the State Park. We all yakked it up for awhile and then headed to McConkey's Jungle Shack. The food was great!
We all took a drive to some of our favorite locations. We picked up some shrimp dip and scored some apple butter at Kink's Farm.
Our friends will be leaving the area in a few days. We will see them again in April at Dames Ferry.
Got a few pics along the way of some of the painted turtles. They are all over the area.

I even got one of this copper frog!
We left for our camper around 1530 and got home by 1700. We beat the traffic, it was all going the other way.
We had a nice dinner, watched some TV, and did a little online shopping.
All is well in the Boss Camp.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 35

We woke up to a steady rain and our campsite was flooded with close to two inches of standing water. It finally stopped raining around 1300.
We headed to the Kids and Kiddos' house around 1400 and released the hounds from their kennel when we arrived. They were happy.
Wesley got home at 1530 and asked if I was ready to take him to his game at 1700. I told him the game was not until 1900! He was a little upset because he would have stayed at school for his newspaper club if he had remembered when the game was!
We all went to the game around 1845. It was a blowout, but on the wrong side.
Cath and I got back to the camper around 2100 and crawled into bed shortly thereafter.

Tuesday, December 2, 2025

Winter Excursion 10, Day 34

We left the Kid's house this morning at 0630 as the cleaning team is showing up at 0700.
After five nights away from the camper all was well except the propane tank had emptied keeping the heater on! We switched over to the other tank and got the place warmed up again. We did crawl back into bed and slept until almost 1000!
We spent the rest of the day doing a few projects in the camper. Our kitchen island was turned into our magnet location.
Those two squares on the island are exactly 24 X 24 inches. I found a couple of magnet boards on Amazon and they fit perfectly. We have been collecting the magnets since we started our Winter Trips 10 years ago and use to display in our other camper. It was fun to try to remember all the places and campgrounds we have visited. There is even a little room at the bottom for more magnet adventures!
I forgot to mention that during this past holiday weekend Wesley has become quite the cribbage player. He is having tournaments with Cath, Brian, and I and gives us a run for our money.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 33

We all did sleep-in this morning.
After breakfast Brian and I took the Oyster shells to the oyster recycle yard and made a stop at Home Depot for a few items we needed for the house Christmas lights decorating job.
We started around 1130 and figured it would take maybe a few hours. That turned into working until dark!
The worst part of the job is moving this 31 foot ladder that Brian has. The thing is unwieldly to say the least and probably weighs over one hundred pounds. When extended it is really hard to balance. We came close once to breaking a window!.
Next year we are getting a lift!
We had pizza for dinner and watched the Bills game. They won so Wesley did not have to go into mourning.
Once again we stayed the night. I'm not sure if we still have a camper or not!

Winter Excursion 10, Day 32

Oyster Roast Day!
Brian and I spent the day getting all set up for the Oyster Roast. Everyone decided we need to be taking more pictures as we have been remiss.
The party began around 1730 and lasted until midnight. The oysters were probably the best we've ever had. They were fresh and very clean! I'm estimating there were 50 - 75 folks at the roast! We had three fire pits set up and burning as the temps were in the low 40s. There was tons of food. Brain had the big screen set up and showing the football games. A good time was had by all.
A few of the folks stayed and helped us clean up. By midnight you could not tell we'd had a big party. I'm sure we will sleep late tomorrow.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 31

It's Black Friday and we did not patriciate!
Jerry & Carolyn left around noon after we had lunch with them at Cod Father's Fish and Chips and spent a little time at Holy City Brewery. I picked up a dozen beer glasses for the kegerator.
I spent the rest day cleaning up and straighten up the garage in preparation for the annual Oyster Roast tomorrow.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 30

Happy Thanksgiving!
Everyone slept in a little and then we had a nice brunch. Brian had to go to work as they are serving over 300 meals in three shifts for Thanksgiving.
We spent the day cooking our meal, watching the Parade, the dog show, and football games.
Jerry & Carolyn arrived from Edisto for dinner. It was great to see them. They are spending the night.
We had dinner around 1800, everything was delicious!
After dinner the Kiddos gave us a little concert. Kennedy plays the voila and Wesley plays the clarinet. They are both in the their school orchestras and have concerts this Holiday season.

Winter Excursion 10, Day 29

We left the Kid's and headed back to the camper.
After showers we loaded up our clothes and Thanksgiving groceries and drove back to the Kid's.
We picked up the shrimp for peel-n'-eat and started prep work for T-Day dishes. I did the shrimp and Cath finished her pumpkin Pie and some other prep for tomorrow's dinner..
After a nice Schnitzel dinner we all watched the movie "F1", it was really good!
