The "winter trip from hell" continues! Did a few host duties this morning and then we got ready to leave for Charleston. When I started the truck the battery and charging system warning lights came on. Didn't think too much about it and started on our trip. As we were nearing Statesboro (20 miles from camp) I decided to check in at the local Ford dealer. They checked it out, put in a new battery, said all was well. When I went to start the truck I only got a "click"...no starter! They said I had to leave the truck so they could trouble shoot the wiring. We tried to get a loaner or a rental car, but there was none available in all of Statesboro, GA. To say the least we were dumfounded! I was almost out of options and Cath missing a neuro appointment was not one of the solutions.
It happens we have some friends that had driven to our campground from Alabama and were visiting for the week. I called and asked if we could borrow their truck for a day. They said yes and as I write this we are in Charleston, SC with Brian, Nicole, and the Kiddos.
The Ford dealer called called on our way to Charleston to tell us the "good news". They found the problem! Seems the squirrels in the campground ate the connector to the truck alternator. They will have the part tomorrow and the bill will only be around $550.
This has been one winter trip to remember!
Omg Craig! You guys need a change of luck soon!
