Winter Excursion 6, Day 174 The Life of a Camp Host

It was a normal host duty day until this afternoon when I found the "Find of the Day".  I was taking my last bucket of fireplace ashes to the ash pit in back of the maintenance area. About half way down the 50 yard dirt road I saw this guy sunny himself in the middle of the trail.
This is an Eastern Diamond Back Rattlesnake. He is about 4.5 feet long. He is now headless and lives in the maintenance shack freezer!
We have been using our propane fireplace when we sit outside, but I've been collecting firewood left at sites as I clean them. So for our last cool evening we decided to have a real campfire.

We are off for the weekend and headed to Charleston. Only eight more days as host (three work days) and we are off to Birmingham on our way home.
