Winter Excursion 3, Day 124

Left camp this morning at 0800. We took the Natchez Trace for about 150 miles and picked up some back roads just past Jackson, MS. The Trace is really a nice National road and next year we will do the whole thing. All of the rivers along the way are swollen due to all the rain.

We arrived at Deerlick Creek COE Campground near Tuscaloosa, AL around 1500. Got camp set up and Jacob and CC showed up. The campsite is really nice. It is right on the lake. I'll post some pics tomorrow. We will be here for two weeks.
Jacob and I worked on the fire most of the evening. The wood was pine, but still a little green. We will have to find some seasoned stuff tomorrow. Here's a pic of Jacob splitting up some of the wood.
And here's a flic of him using up all of my "magic juice".
Cath & CC made a nice dinner of chicken tacos. We yakked until almost 2300. Sleep will come easy tonight!
