First night in the camper was great. I slept like a baby. Cath was a little restless, but that will pass. Kaylee slept by the fireplace as usual.
Had a quick bite for breakfast and then headed off to explore. First stop was Cherry Plain State Park. This park is right on the Massachusetts border. Really nice park with a small campground (10 sites) and a beautiful lake which is full of trout. The park was closed, but we got to see it. We may have to return here one spring or summer.
After Cherry Plain we drove the back roads southeast of Albany. This area reminds us of Vermont, Massachusetts, and all of the New England States. Lots of history, curvy, hilly roads, cemeteries, small (tiny) towns and villages with tons of history.
We stopped at Martin Van Buren NHS and got our passport stamped. Really nice NHS with lots of walking paths, gardens, and a beautiful restored homestead.
Drove back to camp from there on NY Rt 9 and passed Harvest Spirits Farm Distillery We will go back there tomorrow as they have all kinds of AppleJack and various distilled beverages. They have a tasting room! Right next door is Golden Harvest Farms which just happens to make Hard Cider. I'm thinking we will both sleep good tomorrow night!
