First stop was Lake Guntersville State Park. It is a really nice park on the lake. It has over 200 campsites. This time of the year there was maybe 50 campers at the campground, so the place is not crowded at all.
When we went through the park gate this was the first thing we saw. I think they are Emus. There are three of them at the park water treatment plant. We have no idea how they got here or what they are here for!
This is a view of the campground from the lookout point on the golf course that is part of the park. The campground is along the lake front.
Our next stop was a State Park named Buck's Pocket. I didn't take any pics. The campground here is closed. We later learned that the closure is due to the state trying to save money. We did walk around the campground. We are sure in it's day it was really nice, but now it is in real disrepair. The campground is situated along a beautiful mountain stream. We stopped at Point Rock in the park.
Here's the view from Point Rock. The campground is located in the valley below.
Here's Cath and Kaylee at the lookout.
Then we drove over to High Falls Park. This is a small county park maintained by donations.
The waterfall is fabulous! Check out this vid. Notice the hole in the rock at the beginning of the vid.
Here's a pic of the falls.
Back at camp we had a relaxing late afternoon. Did some fishing from shore and made a meatloaf on the egg. Dinner was good. It's been a fun day. We really like exploring the local area around our campgrounds. We think these little trips are one of the highlights of our travels. The best highlight though is seeing the Grandkids!😍
great pics pops
