Today was our 1000th day of camping since we started in 2015 when we got our first camper. We still enjoy traveling, seeing new sights, and meeting other campers. We will do this as long as we can!
I started the day at the fish hatchery.
Here's a pic of the rearing tanks. The do 275K pounds of trout a year!It takes 16 months to raise a trout from egg to fingerling release size. Here's a tank full of fingerlings.
This is the hatchery trout stream just below the tanks. They release fish every three days or so, but they are really small, maybe 6 inches.
Later in the morning we drove to town to fill up our propane tank. On the was we stopped at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park. We were not sure what makes it a resort, but it is an OK State Park. It's a little old with lots of small, unlevel sites. It's a four mile drive on Kentucky winding roads to get to it. It's really out in the boonies and no cell service.
We snapped this pic of the dam on the way back to our campground. They are still dumping lots of water and it looks like they will be doing that for the rest of our stay. Looks like no trout fishing for me as no one is catching anything because the water is so high and fast.
We spent the rest of the day and evening at camp, talking to the neighbors and playing cards. It's been a good 1000th day and we are looking forward to 2000!
