Winter Excursion 9, Day 219

We left Perry Lake State Park, KS around 0900. It's about 260 to our new campground Cedar Bluff State Park, KS.  I would like to say the drive was uneventful, but today it was not. First, only about 15 miles from camp, we came upon an accident. It looked like no one was seriously hurt. It involved a Fifth Wheel camper and a small SUV. Seems the SUV was entering the highway (under construction) and instead of merging it hit the side of the Fifth Wheel. The pic does not show it, but the left side of the SUV is toast!
This happened Maybe 1/4 mile ahead of us on a two lane road (the new lanes were under construction. The few vehicles ahead of us did U-turns (they were locals and knew a way around), but I could not U-turn on a two lane road with the camper hanging on behind us. The Trooper let us pull to the right and wait out the EMS and First Responders. 30 minutes later we were back on the road and heading to our new campground.
A few miles after this accident we jumped on I70 just west of Topeka, KS for the drive to our new campground. For the next 250 miles we fought side winds and gusts. Most were 15 mph winds with occasional gusts to 25+. We do have a great trailer anti-sway hitch, but it was tested to the max! I was very happy to turn of the ignition at our new campsite! ABs were involved!
So here is Site #108 at Cedar Bluff State Park, KS.
Notice....We have shade. A rare commodity in the Prairie. We will do some exploring tomorrow.
