Winter Excursion 2, Day 10

Woke up to another rainy, cold day. We will be happy to get farther south to some warmer weather.
We had a quick breakfast and then headed north on RT-11 to Natural Bridge, VA. It was about 90 miles north of our campground, but it was worth the drive.
In case you haven't figured it out you can click on the pics to expand them, you'll be able to read some of the plaques I've taken a picture of.
Here's one that explains some of the history of Natural Bridge. We were not able to find George Washington's initials.
This is the gate to the bridge, there are a ton of stairs to get into the gorge.
 An Arbor Vitae.
This plaque explains it.
First view of the bridge. RT-11 is one top of the bridge.
A little closer view.
Down the trail a little farther is a replica of the Monacan Indian Village. This is a work area.
This is a sleeping hut.
Cooking area.
Another sleeping area.
If you zoom in on this pic you will see a bird (crane) in the center. I think it was fishing for trout.
At the end of the trail (1.8 miles) is a really nice waterfall. It was worth the walk.
The trail.
Lastly the saltpeter cave.
One of the best things about this State Park is it's dog friendly. Kaylee had a blast.
Took the Interstate back to camp. We ordered a take-out pizza from a local joint for dinner. cleaned up the camper, a little TV, and then off to bed. We are off to Stone Mountain State Park, NC tomorrow.
