Today started out in the mid 40s, but made it to almost 70 and sunny, what a nice fall day in southern PA!
We headed out to Hanover, PA via RT 30 to check out the area. First stop was Camping World to pick up a few things we needed for the new camper.
Next stop the Snyder's Pretzel factory and store. They had all things Snyder's!
Next joint was Mister Ed's Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium. This place has been here since 1975. It's just west of Gettysburg, PA on RT 30. You've got to check out the website at www.mistereds.com They had any kind of candy you can think of and a peanut roaster that has been in operation since 1903. We bought some of those roasted peanuts and they are some of the best I've ever had. Reminds me of a pro baseball game. Here's a few pics of the gardens at Mr. Ed's.
We stopped at my old college campus (Mont Alto, PA) a satellite of Penn State. Then headed back to camp. Did a few camp chores, walked Kaylee, and had a toddy.
For dinner this evening we got an Italian Steak Sub from Mim's. This place has been in business since 1952, I used to go there when I was in college. It has not changed a bit!
Got a kick out of the sign on the door.
Back at camp we had dinner then a campfire and a glass of wine. I can tell you Cath and I are not fans of this fire pit. We are in a handicap camp site, but the fire ring is more like a fire barrel in New York City. You have to stand over the thing to see the fire. There is not another one like it in the entire campground. If we ever come back here a different site will be a must.
Off to Gettysburg tomorrow. Cath wants to see the National Museum and Panorama. Kaylee and I will take a long walk, then we will all do downtown Gettysburg.
