Family Reunion Trip, Day 53

We got up at 0600 trying to beat the heat, but we didn't succeed. It was 85 at 0600 and 92 by 0700! Here's Kaylee sitting in the shade waiting for us to get on the road.
We hit RT 66 at 0730.
First stop was Ludlow, CA at the historic cafe. It was open and it is the only thing left in Ludlow.
Miner's cars from 1882 at the cafe.
We were in a lava field for about 15 miles and came upon this Landmark.
Here's what's left of the crater that created the lava fields.
Another view (had to get the truck in the pic as I just washed it).
All along RT 66 they have this painted on the road. There is no rhyme or reason as to how often, it's just random distances.
Here's few pics of some of the hills and mountains we saw today.

Here's the desert garden at the entrance to our campground. We are in Golden Valley, just north of Kingman, AZ.
Here's the campsite. It's a very small RV park, maybe 20 sites. Most are full-timers. We are in one of the 5 transit sites with NO SHADE!.
Temps today were 115+. Even with both ACs at full blast we can barely get the camper to the mid 80s. I wish I could run the ACs while we are towing! Forecast temps for the next two days are even hotter. We will be glad to get to Flagstaff, it's a lot cooler there.
CTC today was 69, but only saw 3 on RT 66. The rest were on I40, as we had to detour due to some washouts on RT 66. There was very little traffic on RT 66, I'll bet we didn't see 30 other vehicles for the 130 miles we spent on the route. Everyone is in a hurry, so they use I40. 😬😮😲😡
